Finalists For Inaugural Penn State Sports Hall of Fame Unveiled

The nominations are in and now it’s time to begin the voting process as we continue on our journey to create the first ever Penn State Sports Hall of Fame.

We received more than 140 unique names and have narrowed down the field to 41. (A few ties helped expand the original voting plans from 30 to that number.)

Now it’s your job to narrow it down to just 15 names.

You can vote below for up to 15 people. The 15 Penn Staters who get the most votes will make up the inaugural class, with the caveat that no more than six of those names can be tied to Penn State’s football program. This does not preclude you from voting for 15 football players, but should seven Penn State football names finish in the top 15, the seventh will be replaced by a non-football person. Alternatively, should only five football names be voted in the top 15, the remaining 10 will be from non-football sports.

We are doing this in fairness to other sports as there are 30 other athletics teams at Penn State besides football.

A reminder of the eligibility information:

  • The inaugural class will be limited to 15 people, with no more than six from football.
  • Any student-athlete nominee must be out of school one generation (four years removed from last game at Penn State.)
  • Nominees should be primarily considered for their contributions while at Penn State, not at the professional level.
  • Coaches are eligible too, although not those currently active.

Voting runs from now until March 31 with the winners being named in early April. Please be sure to share this with your Penn State friends, family and tailgate crews as this is your Penn State Sports Hall of Fame.
