In our never-ending quest to just catalog a bunch of random Penn State football things, below you can now find Matt Campbell’s contract terms sheet.
Campbell, who was hired at Penn State on Dec. 8, has an 8-year deal that will run through the 2033 season. Its base sums to $70.5 million with a $1 million retention bonus after each season.
Additionally, if Penn State makes the College Football Playoff, the deal is automatically extended for a year. If Penn State wins a national title, it gets extended for two. At least publicly, this is the first time we’ve seen a Penn State head coach have an automatic extension clause.
Ben Jones does an excellent job of breaking down how it’s different than James Franklin’s contract — at least what we had access to — here.
