Survey: Work Remains For Penn State’s NIL Collective

Penn State fans support NIL but they might not be likely to fork over some cash.

It appears Penn State fans don’t mind student athletes making some bucks but it appears that the majority of Penn State fans might not be forking over cash anytime soon.

According to our survey, 70 percent of fans say they support the idea of NIL for college athletes. But 51 percent of fans said they haven’t donated and don’t plan on donating to Happy Valley United with another 29 percent saying they haven’t yet but would if they could financially afford it.

That leaves only 20 percent who have donated to the fund to support the NIL.

And in general, Penn State fans think their collective could be doing a better job. Seventy-five percent of fans gave the collective and Penn State a C-grade or worse in terms of job performance, with 59 percent of those surveyed rating the job done so far a “C.”

Overall, Penn State fans do think that student-athletes should be getting a cut (79 percent) but are divided on which ones. Of all respondents, 33 percent said that only athletes playing revenue driving sports – which at Penn State is essentially football, basketball, men’s hockey and wrestling – should get some of the pie.
