Last week, Penn State rolled out its 2027 and 2028 ticket renewal process.
As we spent some time discuss on this week’s podcast, there was a bit of confusion for some fans, particularly on how to make changes in their accounts.
We sent Penn State Athletics Strategic Communications a list of questions related to the renewal process, aiming to clear up confusion. Below are their responses via a spokesperson to our questions about changing parts of your plan, the inclusion of Roar+ for some and more.
Q1: In previous years, Penn State fans could edit their payment plan options in their Ticketmaster account. It seems like for some fans, they are only locked into the 12-month plan. Are there still other options like the three- and six-month plans offered in the past?
A: Fans who were enrolled in auto-renew last season were automatically enrolled again for the 2027 season, using the payment method they selected previously. Those fans can change their payment plan by contacting the Penn State Athletics ticket office at golions@psu.edu. Fans who are not enrolled in auto-renew choose their payment option when they pay their renewal invoice, including payment plans that extend into June 2027.
Q2: The email for renewals mentioned an early deadline and a later deadline in December. How can fans opt in to a later deadline as it appears most accounts will be charged in mid-November?
A: The early renewal deadline is optional and gives fans who renew early additional perks. The final renewal deadline is Friday, Dec. 18. Fans on auto-renew who would like to be removed from their auto-renew payment plan can email the ticket office at golions@psu.edu.
Q3: Additionally, Penn State fans are asked to email or call the ticketing office to make changes to their account. In general this only included adding or removing seats. But it seems this year this also includes things like payment plans. Is this a different process than previous years and if so why?
A: This process hasn’t changed from previous years. Fans have always been asked to submit account changes in writing, which helps protect their account and ensure no unwanted or accidental changes are made.
Q4: What is Penn State’s standard turnaround time for a response when emailing the ticket office?
A: We always strive to provide a great customer experience for our fans. Response times vary with volume, but the ticket office typically responds within one business day.
Q5: Some fans were offered the ability to sign up for Roar+ at $100 per year, with the implied price of the platform being $180 per However, when you visit the Roar+, the only annual subscription price is $500. Additionally, it appears Roar+ is still no longer behind a paywall after its launch. What is the true price of this platform?
A: ROAR+ is a free content platform. The language in the renewal process has been updated to reflect that.
Q6: Why were some fans offered the ability to sign up Roar+ while others were not?
A: Fans enrolled in auto-renew did not see the ROAR+ option because it was set up as an add-on during renewal, and auto-renew accounts had already completed the renewal process. Since ROAR+ content is free, all fans can access it.
Q7: What will the cost of the Old State Social membership be?
A: Pricing for Old State Social has not been announced yet. Fans can currently share their interest, and more information will be available soon.
Q8: Some fans can not access their previous invoices. What is the best way for fans to rectify that?
A: Previous invoices are available in fans’ accounts. Any fan who is having issues seeing them should contact the ticket office.
