Penn State In-Season Survey Results Revealed

Overall, Penn State fans are in a good mood. (Photo via GoPSUSports.com)

The vibes are good – at least judging by what you have to say.

Last week, we captured your thoughts on Penn State football’s season so far and when it comes to the team, stadium and even the media, there’s an overall positive sentiment radiating out of Happy Valley right now.

Here are the results of our first ever in-season survey. As always, thank you to everyone who answered and provided thoughtful answers as well.

The Team

With a 6-0 record so far, surviving a real test in Los Angeles against USC, 76 percent of those who answered said Penn State has met their expectations in 2024. Another 20 percent said Penn State has overachieved when it comes to their 2024 performance.

We also asked how confident Penn State fans were about the Nittany Lions’ chance at making the 12-team College Football Playoff. The average answer was 4.01 with 48 percent answering a “4” on a scale 1-5. Twenty-eight percent answered with a “5.”

In comparison, when we asked a similar question after last year’s Penn State football season about 2024, the average answer was a 3.8 with just 41 percent giving a “4.”

The Stadium

Much has been made about Penn State’s improvements to Beaver Stadium for the 2024 season – with even more coming in the form of a $700 million dollar renovation starting after the season

But 68 percent of those surveyed say they haven’t noticed a difference to gamedays at Beaver Stadium. Another 27 percent, however, did say gamedays have gotten better with the upgrades.

Interestingly, 31 percent of fans feel entry into Beaver Stadium has been faster this year while 62 percent say it has stayed about the same.

We also collected any additional feedback you had about the stadium and while there was too much to share, the major themes of cell phone and WiFi issues plagued fans. Several fans did praise the hangout area near Gate F as something they enjoy. And, yes, several of those who answered the survey are a part of a swell of people complained about the “Are You Ready For The 4th Quarter” bit. (You can read my magnum opus about it here.)

The Media

Our preseason champion is now our in-season champion. By a razor thin margin, On3’s Blue White Illustrated beat out Onward State for the outlet fans have enjoyed the most so far in 2024. Lions247 took third.
